Notes for Lydia

Lydia, I mean, c’mon! Where do I start?? Working with you has been just joy after joy. You are incredibly creative and have a perfectly honed instinct for how to serve and represent the King’s community in ways that both affirm who we are and encourage us to keep betting ourselves. You have put so much thought and intention into how you tell the stories about this place, and your deep love for King’s is evident in all you do. And beyond that, you are an amazing coworker. You bring light and joy into the office every time you step in the door. You are thoughtful and kind, frank about challenges and committed to finding wise solutions, compassionate in listening in hard times and encouraging when the people around you are down. Our team is so blessed by you, and I am beyond grateful that we get to hold onto you for a little longer!! Take all of this in and know that you have earned every bit of it. Enormous congratulations!!!!

Not sure how to follow up after Jess ^^^. Everything she said is true, and so much more. You are such an intentional, thoughtful, and caring woman. I have seen you make difficult decisions, and follow the Lord in faithful obedience continuously over the last 4 years. Pouring into others, struggling with and setting healthy boundaries, and taking risks even when you were unsure of the outcomes. You are leaving the King’s College good, brave, and ready to face whatever challenges come next (even if that’s just more of The King’s College). I love you so much, and wish you every good thing as you go out into the world a little more prepared than when you joined us. Congratulations on finishing well.

Lydia, you’re a superstar. Congrats to you! It’s been a joy getting to know you in class, from APTAP II to Comparative Government… and I can’t believe you’re leaving already! King’s won’t be the same without you. Don’t be a stranger!

Dear friend, I am so incredibly proud of you and I’m blessed to know you! You truly are a gift and you have brought the light of Jesus to our campus in a special way. Your heart for discipleship has been a source of encouragement to me and I am beyond excited to continue that good work together as fellow colleagues. I look forward to cheering for you on Saturday and seeing all the plans God has in store for your future. I’m grateful that this isn’t goodbye <3 May God surprise you in the best way during this new chapter of life–wishing you all the best! Love you, Lyd!

“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33)

Lydia,

Ditto to everything Jess said. <3

You are such a strong, creative, joyful woman who loves her community and goes above and beyond to make our lives better. Thank you for everything you've done for King's. It's been so wonderful to get to know you and have conversations about what's going on in your life.

I can't wait to see all the good things you do in the world.

Enjoy every second of your graduation!!!

Lydia,
We haven’t had the chance to work together often but I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to cross paths with you on this project. I can see why so many people have shared so much about your gifts and talents. You did an amazing job on this!
Blessings on the next chapter to come!

Jeremiah 29:11

Lydia thanks for being such an incredible friend since year 1. As someone who often liked to think of themselves as the most mature person in the room, I’ve been in awe of the calming, encouraging, and motivating way in which you inspire the people around you to lean into their best qualities since the time we met. Thanks for always liking my posts from the King’s instagram and for always checking in on me when you could tell I needed it.

Congratulations, Lydia! You did an excellent job at King’s over the past four years, and it’s such an honor to witness. You made this school better, and I can’t wait to see what you do next. You bring light, life, and thoughtfulness everywhere you go. There’s nothing I can say that hasn’t already been written more eloquently by other people you’ve impacted, but I’m so glad you shook my hand. I love being your friend. Proud of you, inspired by you, beyond excited for you to enter post-grad. You’ve earned it!

LYDIA!!!! Words cannot express the peace and joy I feel every time I see you. You radiate God’s love in everything you do. You are an embodiment of the fruits of the spirit–love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control–ALL THE THINGS! Thank you for being you. I hope we continue to grow in friendship over the years. Congrats!

My sweet friend, it has been such a tremendous blessing to walk alongside you for these four years. Your gentle spirit, your deep convictions, your thoughtful approach to relationships and commitments, and your laugh! You bring joy to the room when you enter, a true reflection of your Heavenly Father. So glad you’re going to hang around King’s for a while, I’m not ready to bid farewell just yet!

Danise

Lydia! you are such a sweet and kind human and I am so thankful I met you. Thank you for being such an encourager. I always appreciated our thoughtful conversations, without you, I am not sure I would have had the courage to be so persistent about starting Women’s Wisdom Night. So thank you for planting seeds, I am so excited to see the ways they will grow. Congrats, we did it!

Where do I start? I may not have known you as long as all these lovely people, being a freshman and all. However, I feel like I’ve known you my whole life. You’re so kind and patient, sweet and cute. I know we don’t know each other that well and we’re still navigating our relationship, but don’t be a stranger. And don’t be alarmed that I show up at your abode so much without permission; I don’t intend to stop. Live a great life, I’ll be watching.

Lydia, I think you can chalk this one up to a job well done. You have been so diligent during your time here, and your hard work inspires me and others. You are never idle, always eager to learn and to give yourself to others. As Becky did, I would also like to affirm your cuteness and sweetness. Thanks for not hesitating to spit your drink across the table if something is funny enough, and for teaching me that gnocchi is not something to fear. You’re one of a kind!

Congratulations Lydia! I am so grateful to have experienced your care. I hope that you can properly celebrate all that you have given to this community because I am so thankful for it!

Lydia, the King’s community is so much stronger with you in it! Thank you for all the ways that you have stepped up to the plate to lead the student body, especially spiritually. I echo Ben in saying that the highlight of the Cold Spring trip was your spit take haha

Lydia! I’ve so appreciated getting to know you this year, and I look forward to whatever your next steps forward are. God bless!

Dear Daughter,
We are very pleased to see all that you have achieved these past four years. It has been truly a blessing to walk with you as you got settled in and thrived at King’s. I feel very blessed to be your mom. “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ”.
Much love, Mom

Lydia! Congrats! I remember coming to stay with you as an Inviso baby, and now we’re going to be roommates! We’ve truly come full circle. I can’t wait to take on next year with you, and watch you grow and take on the world from a front-row seat!

Lydia – M&C has been richly blessed by having you as part of the fam. Thanks for putting up with us! We will miss you!! (while you’re gone for a few weeks). Then we’ll really get to work.

Congratulations, my friend!!

Lydia, you carry yourself with the compassion, grace, and strength of Queen Margaret herself. Your smile is infectious, and I can’t wait to see all the cool things you do in life. May God bless you richly!

We’ve traveled the world together, moved to the Big City together, shared life and ministry, and lived dreams. Who would’ve thought life could be so rich!? And now you’ve established yourself as your own woman who is full of love and joy, and prepared for ANY good work! (2 Tim 2:21) I’m so proud of you!! You are one who brings joy to everyone by sharing your very life, and you are immeasurably special to me! (1 Thes 2:8). I love you!!

Congratulations Lydia! It’s been great getting to know you over the last few years. I look forward to remaining friends well into the future.

Lydia, my dear friend, Little, housemate, and sister, among other good things. Congratulations!! From the first time you stepped on the King’s campus, up till now and into the future, your heart for the school and for the people in it have been a blessing that will keep reaping fruits beyond anything you’ll ever be aware of or be around to see. Obviously I’m not the first to say this, but it bears repeating a thousand times over: your joy, your intentionality, your wisdom, your love for God and for others is such a blessing to watch and to be inspired by. Just by being the woman that God made you to be, you encourage others to be the best versions of themselves. I can’t wait to see how God uses that gift throughout the rest of your life. Thank you for being you with all the quiet strength that it takes to do so <3 <3

Lydia! I’m so glad that we decided to do our Reformation papers on Jean Gerson. Thankful for your kind, Godly, persistent presence around King’s. You’ve continually pointed others toward Christ without becoming prideful or unapproachable. Your quiet and faithful service has been felt around the school. Thankful I don’t have to take another Brand elective without you.

LIDDLES, my love! You are a gift from the Lord + a wonderful sister. Congrats on all you have achieved thus far. Excited to continue doing life with you post-grad :’)

LYDIA!!!!!

Wow. We did it buddy. We made it all the way from 2217 (sidewalk, yellow raincoat, broccoli socks, etc. you know the story) to silly hat day and then some 🙂

It has been the biggest joy to live so much life with you. I have always been blown away by your wisdom, care for your community, and love by the Lord. I’ve enjoyed being in the passenger seat to your life the past four years.

Thanks for loving me freshman year, persevering through sophomore year, baking cookies and exegeting Ezra during lockdown, growing through junior year, having the best summer ever last year (TV!!! BUBBLE TEA (bahamingos)!!! Lunchtime cookies! Interns! Bridesmaids!!), and for being the best roommate ever senior year. 🙂

It’s been a blast Lyd. I’m so blessed that I get to call you my best friend. Hype to have you as my MOH at my wedding!

Catch you on the flip.

With my whole heart,
Dommie
